Answer:

x = 5\sqrt{2} (or \frac{5\sqrt{2}}{1} if it has to have a rational denominator)

Step-by-step explanation:

We know;

1.) This triangle is isosceles (two of the sides are congruent).

2.) Hypotenuse is the biggest side in a right triangle. Therefore, that un-labeled side can't be 10, it has to be x as well.

So;

A² + B² = C²

x² + x² = 10²

2x² = 100

x² = 100/2

x² = 50

x = \sqrt{50}

Simplifying this would result in;

\sqrt{50} = \sqrt{25} * \sqrt{2}

\sqrt{50} = 5\sqrt{2} (or \frac{5\sqrt{2}}{1} if it has to have a rational denominator)

Hope this helps!

Answer:

x = 5*sqrt(2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Equation

Use the Pythagorean Theorem to get the value of x. If the triangle is isosceles, it means that both lets are equal to x.

x^2 + x^2 = 10^2

2x^2 = 100

x^2 = 50

x^2 = 5 * 5 * 2

sqrt(x^2) = sqrt(5*5*2)

x = 5*sqrt(2)

There is no denominator to rationalize. The answer is given as a irrational root.  The only other way to present it is in an approximate decimal form.

Carly got her haircut for $45.60 she wants to tip her hair dresser 15% what is her total paid?
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

$52.44

Step-by-step explanation:

Long method:

1. Convert the percentage into a decimal (15/100 = 0.15)

2. Multiply the decimal by the cost of the haircut (0.15 x $45.60 = $6.84)

3. Add this product by the cost of the haircut ($6.84 + $45.60 = $52.44)

Quicker Way (easier w/ a calculator)

1. Add 100% to the percentage she wants to add (100% + 15% = 115%) You can also express this as a number (115/100 = 1.15)

2. Multiply this new percentage by the cost of the haircut (1.15 x $45.60 = 52.44)

In a single equation, it would be

\frac{115}{100}  \times 45.60 = 52.44

balu736 [363]

Answer:

x = -10

Step-by-step explanation:

x/4=-2.5

multiply both sides by 4

x/4*4=-2.5*4

-2.5 times 4 is -10

x = -10

olganol [36]
Hey!
All you need to do is divide 173 by 4. that is 43.25. You can't have a fourth of a bicycle so you want to round down. You can make 43 bicycles.
Hope this helps!
