A person has driven a car 180 m in 40 seconds. What is the car’s speed?
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

 4.5 m/s = 16.2 km/h

Explanation:

The speed is the ratio of distance to time:

 speed = (180 m)/(40 s) = 4.5 m/s

The acceleration due to gravity at sea level is g=9.81 m/s^2. The radius of the earth is 6370 km. The universal gravitational co
solmaris [256]

Answer:

Mass of earth will be M=5.96\times 10^{24}kg

Explanation:

We have given acceleration due to gravity g=9.81m/sec^2

Radius of earth = 6370 km =6370\times 10^3m

Gravitational constant G=6.67\times 10^{-11}Nm^2/kg^2

We know that acceleration due to gravity is given by

g=\frac{GM}{R^2}, here G is gravitational constant, M is mass of earth and R is radius of earth

So 9.81=\frac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times M}{(6370\times 10^3)^2}

M=5.96\times 10^{24}kg

So mass of earth will be M=5.96\times 10^{24}kg

Why some types of aggregate are susceptible to damage from repeated freezing and thawing? Explain.
koban [17]

Answer:

Some types of aggregate are susceptible to damage from repeated freezing and thawing due to their porosity. An aggregate being porous allows water molecules to enter in between the rocks.

When freezing occurs, water is known to expand. The expansion of this in the rocks creates a type of pressure which results in the fracture of the rocks. Subsequent freezing and thawing will allow for more fracture between the rock particles which will lead to its disintegration.

Suggest suitable materials of construction for the following applications and provide justifications.
Sergio039 [100]

Answer:

a) 316 stainless steel

b) 316 stainless steel

c) Carbon steel

d) stainless steel 316

e) stainless steel 316

f ) Carbon steel

Explanation:

A) A 10,000 M' storage tank for Toluene

The best material for building this tank is 316 stainless steel this is because it is relatively cheaper than other materials such as Hest Alloy C while still maintaining the required tensile strength needed to build the storage tank for Toluene

B) A 5.0 m' tank for storing a 30% w/w aqueous solution of sodium chloride

The suitable material for building this tank is 316 stainless steel as it is cheaper than Titanium and Hest Alloy C and it is compatible with sodium chloride

C) A 2 m diameter, 20 m high distillation column, distilling acrylonitrile

The best material for constructing this column is Carbon steel and this is because it has a very high compressive strength which is approximately . 1320 MPa

D) A 100 m storage tank for strong nitric acid.

The best material is stainless steel 316 and this is due to its high tensile strength

E) 316 stainless steel

F) Carbon steel is suitable for building this absorption column because it has a very high compressive strength which is approximately . 1320 MPa
