A certain first-order reaction is 58% complete in 95 s. What are the values of the rate constant and the half-life for this proc
guajiro [1.7K]

Answer:

0.005734 s^{-1} and 20.86 seconds are the values of the rate constant and the half-life for this process respectively..

Explanation:

Expression for rate law for first order kinetics is given by:

a_o=a\times e^{-kt}

where,

k = rate constant

t = age of sample

a_o = let initial amount of the reactant

a = amount left after decay process

We have :

a_o=x

a=58\%\times x=0.58x

t = 95 s

0.58x=x\times e^{-k\times 95 s}

\k= 0.005734 s^{-1}

Half life is given by for first order kinetics::

t_{1/2}=\frac{0.693}{k}

=\frac{0.693}{0.005734 s^{-1}}=120.86 s

0.005734 s^{-1} and 20.86 seconds are the values of the rate constant and the half-life for this process respectively..

How was the formation of the outer planets affected by their distance from the sun?
djverab [1.8K]

The formation of the outer planets are affected by their distance from the sun with having them to maintain the lighter elements that they are composed of such as the hydrogen and helium, having them far away will also make their planet more cooler as the sun is distant from them.

An unmarked police car traveling a constant 95 km/h is passed by a speeder. Precisely 1.00 s after the speeder passes, the polic
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

Speed of the speeder will be 28 m/sec

Explanation:

In first case police car is traveling with a speed of 90 km/hr

We can change 90 km/hr in m/sec

So 90km/hr=\frac{90\times 1000m}{3600sec}=25m/sec

Car is traveling for 1 sec with a constant speed so distance traveled in 1 sec = 25×1 = 25 m

After that car is accelerating with a=2m/sec^2 for 7 sec

So distance traveled by car in these 7 sec

S=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2=25\times 7+\frac{1}{2}\times 2\times 7^2=224m

So total distance traveled by police car = 224 m

This distance is also same for speeder

Now let speeder is moving with constant velocity v

so 224=\left ( 1+7 \right )v

v = 28 m/sec
