Bill is not only good at riding a bike with no hands, but he can also ride the bike with no hands and facing backwards while the

bike goes forward. Bill is riding his bike in such a manner while playing catch with Betty who is stationary on the ground and facing Bill. Bill is on the bike (facing backwards toward Betty) and traveling away from Betty at a speed of 12.0 m/s when he throws a ball to Betty at a speed of 17.8 m/s relative to the bike. What is the velocity of the ball as measured by Betty

Answer:

5.8 m/s

Explanation:

Let v = velocity of bike relative to Betty = -12.0 m/s (since the bike is moving away from betty).

u = velocity of ball relative to bike = + 17.8 m/s

and V = velocity of ball relative to Betty.

So, by Galilean relativity,

V = v + u

V = -12.0 m/s + 17.8 m/s

V = 5.8 m/s

So, the velocity of the ball as measured by Betty is 5.8 m/s

Answer:

\lambda=25.6nm

Explanation:

The Rydberg formula can be extended for use with any hydrogen-like chemical elements, that is to say with only one electron being affected by effective nuclear charge. So, in this case, we can calculate the wavelenghts of the emitted photons using this formula:

\frac{1}{\lambda}=RZ^2(\frac{1}{n_1^2}-\frac{1}{n_2^2})

Where R is the Rydberg constant of the element, Z its atomic number, n_1 is the lower energy level and n_2 the upper energy level of the  electron transition. Recall that the ground state is denoted as n=1.

\frac{1}{\lambda}=1.1*10^7m^{-1}(2)2^2(\frac{1}{1^2}-\frac{1}{3^2})\\\frac{1}{\lambda}=3.91*10^7m^{-1}\\\lambda=2.56*10^{-8}m=25.6nm

Answer:

The answer is: Increase the Number of Ropes/Pulleys.

Explanation:

A "pulley" <u><em>is an object that supports a particular movement such as supporting a force's change in direction (provided that the direction is applied to a cord). </em></u>This is regarded as a "simple machine" consisting of a wheel on an axle. This helps guide cables or ropes.

This machine is used <em>in order to decrease the amount of time it takes to do work, such as lifting of objects.</em>

Remember that "mechanical advantage"<u> refers to the ratio between the force applied to a machine and the force produced by it.</u> So, when it comes to pulleys, the mechanical advantage increases when the number of ropes are also increased. They are directly proportional. This goes the same way with increasing the number of pulleys. Once you increase the number of pulleys, the mechanical advantage also increases.
