Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem "At Night" six stanza poem that revolves around the speaker who is reclining in front of a fire on a cold night. The speaker also is seemingly trying to wake up the sleeping boy next to him, but without success.
The age of the speaker can be best assumed to be old age, for he loves being in front of the fire. He also stated that <em>"hit feels so good to stretch"</em>, and admits <em>"Hit's mighty soothin' to de tiah"</em>.
The Democratic-Republicans later splintered during the 1824 presidential election. The majority faction of the Democratic-Republicans eventually coalesced into the modern Democratic Party, while the minority faction ultimately formed the core of what became the Whig Party.
Because they are at such a young age that they are still able to identify letters and know sounds of some. But they still deal with many everyday difficulties such as not being able to decode words with many syllables.
