9514 1404 393

Answer:

 see below

Step-by-step explanation:

Read the words down to the point where it says "graph this equation." Then, it's not a word problem anymore—it's a problem of graphing the given equation.

 c = 2t +8

The "y-intercept" is the value of "y" when t=0. It is 8. This is the cost of a pizza with 0 toppings.

The slope is the coefficient of t. It is 2. This is the increase in the cost of a pizza when 1 topping is added. The slope is the cost of a topping.

__

Be aware that the grid on this graph shows squares, but the vertical dimension of the square is $2 while the horizontal dimension is 1 topping. That is, a line with a slope of 2 will lie on the diagonal of a grid square.

_____

Additional comment

We call the point where the graph crosses the vertical axis the "y-intercept." It is called that here, even though "y" is not in the equation or on the graph anywhere. It should rightfully be called the "c-intercept", since the vertical axis shows the value of c, the cost of the pizza.

Find the sum of the constants a, h, and k such that
ra1l [238]

Answer:

 3

Step-by-step explanation:

The value of "a" is the coefficient of x^2, so we know that is 2.

__

Solve for h

Now, we have ...

 2x^2 -8x +7 = 2(x -h)^2 +k

Expanding the right side gives us ...

 = 2(x^2 -2hx +h^2) +k

 = 2x^2 -4hx +2h^2 +k

Comparing x-terms, we see ...

 -4hx = -8x

 h = (-8x)/(-4x) = 2

__

Solve for k

Now, we're left with ...

 2h^2 +k = 7 = 2(2^2) +k = 8 +k

Subtracting 8 we find k to be ...

 k = 7 -8 = -1

__

And the sum of constants a, h, and k is ...

 a +h +k = 2 +2 -1 = 3

The sum of the constants is 3.

Can someone please explain to me how to find the answer 7+ 4x + 5x
EleoNora [17]
Since you have two numbers that have a (x) at the ends of them, you add those first then add seven which will end up being 9x+7
