long period of time

low-intensity

ex: playing basketball

Aerobic exercises:

short period of time

high-intensity

Anaerobic exercise is more intense and burns more fat than aerobic exercise. If the goal of your exercise program is to lose weight or build muscle mass, you would want to include more anaerobic exercise. If the goal of your exercise program is to increase endurance or stamina, you would want to include more aerobic exercise.
