Suppose that a 1000 kg car is traveling at 25 m/s (aprox 55mph). Its brakes can apply a force of 5000N. What is the minimum dist
Brrunno [24]

Assuming the the car is travelling to the right (→):

R(\rightarrow), F = ma

\implies a =  \frac{F}{m}

=  \frac{-5000}{1000}

= -5 \ ms^{-2}

The information we know:

u = 25 \ ms^{-1}

v = 0

a = -5 \ ms^{-2}

Using one of the equations of motion:

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

\implies s = \frac{v^2 -u^2}{2a}

=  \frac{0^2 - 25^2}{2\times (-5)}

=  \frac{625}{10}

= 62.5\ m

If a textbook weighs 37.2 N on Venus, and the book has a mass of 4.4 kg, what is the strength of gravity on Venus?
Romashka [77]

F=ma

Where F is force, m is mass and a is acceleration.

37.2N=4.4kg\cdot a\Longrightarrow a=\dfrac{37.2N}{4.4kg}=\boxed{8.45\dfrac{m}{s^2}}

Hope this helps.

A car of mass 1230 kg is on an icy driveway inclined at an angle of 39°. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s². θ If the incli
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

Acceleration of the car, a=6.16\ m/s^2

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the car, m = 1230 kg

The car is inclined at an angle of 39 degrees.

The acceleration of gravity acting on the car is 9.8\ m/s^2. The component of car parallel to inclined planes is :

W_x=mg\ sin\theta

Net force acting on it is :

ma=mg\ sin\theta

a=g\ sin\theta

a=9.8\times \ sin(39)

a=6.16\ m/s^2

So, the acceleration of the car is 6.16\ m/s^2. Hence, this is the required solution.
