Jeff and Jason are diving near a corral reef in the ocean. Jason is swimming along the bottom of the ocean floor 188.82 feet fro

m the boat's anchor which lies directly below the boat at a depth of 172.22 feet. If Jeff is 20 feet directly above Jason, how far is Jeff from the boat.

Ok, so we do pythagoran theorm so
assume that jason is to the left or right of the anchor

ok
the boat anchor is 172.22 feet so 20 feet above that is 152.22 feet
then the other leg or distance to jeff is 188.82

a²+b²=c²
152.22²+188.82²=c²
23170.9284+35652.9924=c²
58823.9208=c²
sqrt both sides
242.53643190251=c

the distance is about 242.5ft
