Why is it impossible from an individual to inherit a recessive condition if only one parent is a carrier for that condition
Jobisdone [24]
I added a picture of a badly-drawn cross as an example to help me explain. Let's say h is the recessive allele, in this case, that would cause a recessive condition. The heterozygous Hh parent is the carrier and they are being crossed with a homozygous dominant HH parent.

As you can see, all of the children are either homozygous dominants HH or heterozygous carriers Hh. None of the children can be homozygous recessive hh because there is not a recessive allele h to inherit from the other parent. Because H is dominant over h, the recessive condition won't be displayed.

In this unit, you learned about the structure and functions of the three branches of the federal government. Identify these bran
xz_007 [3.2K]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

These branches of the federal government are the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch.

The executive branch is the President of the United States. The President is the most important leader of the United States. He is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and the chief diplomat. He has the power to sign executive orders and veto legislation created by legislators.

The legislative branch is the US Congress. It is divided into two chambers; The lower chamber or House of Representatives and the upper chamber or Senate. The US Congress has the power to create laws and regulate domestic trade and foreign trade.

The judicial branch is the Supreme Court, the most important court in the United States. The judicial branch oversees the justice system in America and has the power to declare a law, unconstitutional.

These three branches are subjected to the checks and balances system created by the founding fathers. This means that none of the three branches has more power than the other. This is good for the US because this maintains the proper balance between the branches.

Please explain one way in which the federal government ensures fair competition in the marketplace.
olga_2 [115]

Answer:

Through regulation, taxation, subsidies and enforcing the antitrust laws.

Explanation:

According to Samuelson and other modern economists, governments have four main functions in a market economy — to increase efficiency, to provide infrastructure, to promote equity, and to foster macroeconomic stability and growth.

The government tries to combat market inequities through regulation, taxation, and subsidies.

Examples of this include breaking up monopolies and regulating negative externalities like pollution. Governments may sometimes intervene in markets to promote other goals, such as national unity and advancement.

One way we do this is by enforcing the antitrust laws. ... But competition can only thrive if firms respect the antitrust laws, which are the rules of the free market. When businesses break those rules—such as by agreeing to fix prices—they effectively steal from consumers and harm the economy.
