Ji and Layla played a game in which they scored 10 points for a correct answer and lost 20 points for an incorrect answer. Ji an
Finger [1]

Layla had the higher score by 20 points.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Points for correct answer = 10 points

Points for incorrect answer = 20 points

Loss means subtraction;

Therefore,

Total points of Ji = Correct answers*10 - Incorrect answers*20

Total points of Ji = 7*10 - 3*20

Total points of Ji = 70 - 60

Total points of Ji = 10 points

Total points of Layla = Correct answers*10 - Incorrect answers*20

Total points of Layla = 5*10 - 1*20

Total points of Layla = 50 - 20

Total points of Layla = 30 points

Difference = Points of Layla - Points of Ji

Difference = 30 - 10 = 20 points

Layla had the higher score by 20 points.

What is the product in lowest terms?
Alisiya [41]
-5/12 × 8/13

First, we need to start out by applying the multiplication rule towards fractions. If you haven't learned or don't remember the rules, you can always look up fraction rules. The rule is: a/b × c/d = ac/bd. Basically, we are combining the numerators and both of the denominators.
- \frac{5 \times 8}{12 \times 13}

Second, let's now multiply what we have in the fraction. (5 × 8 = 40) and (12 × 13 = 156). Doing so will create a new fraction for us to use.
-\frac{40}{156}

Third, now obviously, we can simplify the fraction we just got into lower terms. To do that, we have to collect the greatest common factor (GCF) of both the numerator and denominator and list their factors to find the common factor that is the greatest.

Factors of 40: 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 40
Factors of 156: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, 13, 26, 39, 52, 78, 156

Out of the listed factors, which of those are the common ones? 1, 2, and 4 are the common factors. Since we are looking for the greatest common factor, it would be 4 since that is the higher number out of the commons. The GCF is 4.

Fourth, we can now divide our numerator (40) and our denominator (156) by the GCF we just found out, which was 4.
40 \div 4 = 10  \\ 156 \div 4 = 39

Fifth, our last step is to create our new simplified fraction. All we have to do is take our new numerator and denominator to see the fraction.

a certain pharmaceutical company know that, on average 4% of a certain type of pill has an ingredient that is below the minimum
FinnZ [79.3K]

Using the binomial distribution, it is found that there is a 0% probability that fewer that 5 in a sample of 20 pills will be acceptable.

For each pill, there are only two possible outcomes, either it is acceptable, or it is not. The probability of a pill being acceptable is independent of any other pill, which means that the binomial distribution is used to solve this question.

Binomial probability distribution

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

The parameters are:

  • x is the number of successes.
  • n is the number of trials.
  • p is the probability of a success on a single trial.

In this problem:

  • The sample has 20 pills, hence n = 20.
  • 100 - 4 = 96% are acceptable, hence p = 0.96

The probability that <u>fewer that 5 in a sample of 20 pills</u> will be acceptable is:

P(X < 5) = P(X = 0) + P(X = 1) + P(X = 2) + P(X = 3) + P(X = 4)

In which

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

P(X = 0) = C_{20,0}.(0.96)^{0}.(0.04)^{20} = 0

P(X = 1) = C_{20,1}.(0.96)^{1}.(0.04)^{19} = 0

P(X = 2) = C_{20,2}.(0.96)^{2}.(0.04)^{18} = 0

P(X = 3) = C_{20,3}.(0.96)^{3}.(0.04)^{17} = 0

P(X = 4) = C_{20,4}.(0.96)^{4}.(0.04)^{16} = 0

0% probability that fewer that 5 in a sample of 20 pills will be acceptable.

Find parametric equations for the tangent line to the curve with the given parametric equations at the specified point. x = e^−2
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:

x=1

y=s

z=1

Step-by-step explanation:

(x, y, z)=(1, 0, 1)

Substitute 0 for y

y = e^{-2t} *sin 4t\\0 = e^{-2t} *sin 4t\\\\0 = e^{-2t} *(\frac{e^{4t}-e^{-4t}}{2j} )\\0 = e^{-2t} *(e^{4t}-e^{-4t} )\\0 = e^{-2t} *e^{4t}*(1-e^{-8t} )\\\\0 = e^{2t}*(1-e^{-8t} )\\\\\\Either   \\0 = e^{2t}\\t = -inf\\or\\0 = (1-e^{-8t} )\\(e^{-8t} ) = 1\\ -8t = ln(1) =0\\t=0\\\\

Confirming if t=0 satisfy the other equation

x = e^−2t cos 4t = e^−2(0)cos(4*0)

= e^(0)cos(0) = 1

z = e^−2t  = e^−2(0)  = 0

Therefore t=0 satisfies the other equation

Finding the tangent vector at t=0

\frac{dx}{dt}=-2te^{-2t} cos4t + e^{-2t}(-4sin4t)=-2(0)e^{-2(0)} cos4(0) + e^{-2(0)}(-4sin4(0))=0\\\\ \frac{dy}{dt} =-2te^{-2t} sin4t + e^{-2t}(4cos4t)=-2(0)e^{-2(0)} sin4(0)+ e^{-2(0)(4cos4(0)) }= 1\\\\\frac{dz}{dt}  = -2te^{-2t}  = -2(0)e^{-2(0)}  = 0

The vector equation of the tangent line is

(1, 0, 1) +s(0,1,0)= (1, s, 1)

The parametric equations are:

x=1

y=s

z=1

Drag the choices into the boxes to explain how all real numbers have a decimal expansion.
KATRIN_1 [288]

The decimal forms of some real numbers, like( 3/16), terminate, while the decimal forms of other real numbers, like(4 2/11 ), do not terminate, but have a repeating pattern. Still, other real numbers, like(5 squared ), have decimal forms that neither terminate nor repeat.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. The decimal forms of some real numbers, like( ), terminate

A number is terminating if it has decimal with finite number

So, \frac{3}{16}= 0.1875 as decimal stops after 4 digits so it is terminating.

2.  the decimal forms of other real numbers, like( ), do not terminate, but have a repeating pattern.

A number that do not terminate, but have a repeating pattern.

So, 4 \frac{2}{11} =\frac{44}{11}=4.1818181

3. have decimal forms that neither terminate nor repeat

5^2 = 25 it neither terminates nor repeat

So, answers will be:

The decimal forms of some real numbers, like( 3/16), terminate, while the decimal forms of other real numbers, like(4 2/11 ), do not terminate, but have a repeating pattern. Still, other real numbers, like(5 squared ), have decimal forms that neither terminate nor repeat.
