Erik Erikson suggest that we go through different stage of development throughout our lives as we develop our own unique identity. Adolescent face things like choosing a career path, building their own moral path, choosing political sides and and making friends. These all from part of finding their own identity.

Role confusion take place when one finds it hard to stay on one path, this then lead to experimenting diffrent things before committing to those particular things that form their identity

Finding one's own dentity is a process and one goes through various rages until they can settle down and say this is who they are.

Ego identity which connect us with reality(which is also defined by Erik Erikson) also helps defines an individual identity in terms of parent self , career self and sexual self.
