This plan was presented to the Emperor by Prime Minister Hideki Tōjō and in effect ended discussion of invading Australia. The FS Operation was not implemented, however, due to Japan's defeats in the Battle of the Coral Sea and Battle of Midway and was cancelled on 11 July 1942.

The Battle of Nashville was fought in December 1864 and was an attempt by Union forces to break the Confederate Army of Tennessee under General John Bell Hood that had resisted in northern Alabama and in at least three battles: Hoover's Gap and Franklin and Nashville

The Battle started on December 16th with a surprise attack from Union troops from Missouri, who surrounded Hood’s army from the northeast. This forced his troops to withdraw northwest towards Waldron’s Point. In order to get his artillery out of reach of the advancing Northern forces he ordered a column to lead the artillery on a perilous night march outside of Nashville.​
