Area of a triangle is given by the formula A=1/2 bh. The area of the triangle shown to the right is 56 sq. units. Find its base
Westkost [7]
Given

base=2x+6
height=x+4

and
area=56 square units

56=1/2 times (2x+6) times (x+4)
times bot sides by 2
112=(2x+6)(x+4)
expand
112=2x²+14x+24
divide both sides by 2
56=x²+7x+12
minus 56 both sides
0=x²+7x-44
factor
waht 2 numbers mulitply to get -44 and add to get 7
11 and -4
0=(x-4)(x+11)
set to 0

x-4=0
x=4

x+11=0
x=-11
false, measures can't be negative

x=4

height=x+4
height=4+4=8

base=2x+6
base=2(4)+6=8+6=14

x=4 and base=14 and height=8

If d = m/v, what is the equation when solved for v? **please explain**
inn [45]
V= m/d.  When you get questions asking about density/mass/volume draw a triangle just like in the picture i have attached and with your finger cover up the one you are looking for. So to find the equation for volume you cover up volume and you are left with mass divided by density.

Often sales of a new product grow rapidly at first and then level off with time. This is the case with the sales represented by
True [87]

Answer:

Here we have the function:

S(t) = 500 - 400*t^(-1)

Then the rate of change at the value t, will be:

S'(t) = dS(t)/dt

This differentiation will be:

S'(t) = -400/t^2

Then:

a) the rate of change at t = 1 is:

S'(1) =  -400/1^2 = -400

The rate of change after one year is -400

b) t = 10

S'(10) = -400/10^2 = -400/100 = -4

The rate of change after 10 years is -4, it reduced as the years passed, as expected.
