<u>The concept:</u>

We are given the equation:

5^{x(x-1)} = 1

Which can be simplified as:

5^{x^{2} - x} = 1^{1}

Since any number to the power '0' is 1

x² - x must be equal to 0 for the given equation to be true

<u></u>

<u>Solving for x:</u>

x² - x = 0

x(x-1) = 0

now, we can divide both sides by either x OR x-1

So we will see what we get for either choice:

x = 0/(x-1)                           x-1 = 0/x

x = 0                                  x = 1

Hence, the value of x is either 0 or 1

A) x and y are two numbers taken from the list below.
Masja [62]

Answer:

a)

i) we have the equation:

3*x - 2*y

We want to find a common multiple of 3 and 2.

One can be:

3*6 = 18

2*9 = 18

And both numbers 6 and 9 are on the list, then if we take:

x = 6, y = 9

we get:

3*6 - 2*9 = 18 - 18 = 0

The solution is x = 6, y = 9.

ii) The greatest possible value of:

3*x - 2*y

Will be when x is the largest value of the list (because it is on the positive term) and y is the smallest value on the list (because it is on the negative term)

then we need to have x = 10, y = 5

The value will be:

3*10 - 2*5 = 30 - 10 = 20

iii) Now we want to have the smallest value on x, and the largest one on y, then:

x = 5, y = 10

The smallest value of the equation will be:

3*5 - 2*10 = 15 - 20 = -5

B) We want to solve:

5*(a - 4*b)

when:

a = -7

b = 1/4

This is kinda easy, we just need to replace the variables in the equation to get:

5*(a - 4*b) = 5*(-7 - 4*(1/4)) = 5*(-7 - 4/4) = 5*-8 = -40

A man is standing at a radar base and observes an unidentified plane at an altitude 6000m flying towards the radar base at an an
liubo4ka [24]

Answer:

The speed in of the plane is 115.47 m/sec

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Height at which the plane is flying = 6000 m

Angle of elevation at the radar base = 30 Degrees

Angle of elevation at the radar base after one minute  = 60 Degrees

To Find:

The Speed of the plane in meter per second = ?

Solution:

Let us use the tangent of the angle to find the distance (d) to a point directly below plane:

<u>when the angle is 30 degrees</u>

tan(30) = \frac{6000}{d1}

d1   = \frac{6000}{tan(30)}

d1 = \frac{6000}{0.577}

d1 = 10392.3 meters

<u>when the angle is 60 degrees</u>

tan(60) = \frac{6000}{d2}

d2  = \frac{6000}{tan(60)}

d2  = \frac{6000}{1.732}\\

d2 = 3464.1 meters

<u>distance travelled by aircraft in 1 min is  </u>

=>d1 - d2

=>0392.3 - 3464.1

= 6928.2 m/min

<u>Now converting to m/sec</u>

=>\frac{6928.2}{60}

=>115.47 m/sec

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (-9,8) and (-21,10)?
____ [38]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(10 - 8)/(-21 + 9)= 12/-12= -1

y - 8 = -1(x + 9)

y - 8 = -x - 9

y = -x - 1

PLEASE HELP! What are the steps used to construct a hexagon inscribed in a circle using a straightedge and a compass? Drag the c
emmainna [20.7K]

An appropriate order for drawing a hexagon is ...

  1. Use the circle's radius to set the width of the compass.
  2. Draw a circle using the compass.
  3. Add a point on the circle.
  4. Place the point of the compass on the point most recently drawn on the circle.
  5. Create an arc with the compass that intersects the circle.
  6. Mark the intersection with a point.
  7. Repeat the previous step 4 times. [meaning steps 4–6]
  8. Connect consecutive points with the straightedge.

_____

<em>Comment on this construction</em>

A lot of math is much more understandable if you have real-life experience with physical objects. In geometry, there is really no substitute for actually doing these steps using a compass and straightedge.

One of the things you learn by doing is that you need to be very precise when you're following the process. Otherwise, your hexagon comes out somewhat irregular.

You also find there are other methods (perhaps more accurate and requiring less work), involving symmetry and the center of the circle.

What usually happens to main characters by the end of the story?
slamgirl [31]

Here's your answer:

C. They grow, change, or learn an important lesson

You get this answer because the MC (Main Character) goes on a journey or adventure to seek something and they will learn new things on their way and grow up from who they used to be.

I hope this helps you out! ^-^
