Find how much 20% is by setting up a proportion:

\frac{20}{100}  =  \frac{x}{19.5}

Cross multiply:

100x = 390

Divide both sides by 100 to isolate x:

x = 3.9

Now because it says the new packaging contains 20% <em>more</em>, you <em>add</em> 3.9 ounces to 19.5 ounces.

3.9 + 19.5 = 23.4

Your answer is 23.4 ounces.

Area is length times width. Because dividing is the exact opposite of multiplying, we can divide for the answer.

230 divided by 12.5 equals 18.4

230 ÷ 12.5 = 18.4

Answer:

A. 4.2 times

Step-by-step explanation:

Chlorine level of the pool as adjusted by Paula = 6.3 parts per million

Ideal Chlorine level as suggested by the magazine = 1.5 parts per million.

Thus, the number of times the ideal level of Chlorine that the current level is = current level ÷ ideal level

= \frac{6.3}{1.5} = 4.2

The current Chlorine level is 4.2 times the ideal Chlorine level.
