They are inverse functions though to be completely thorough your teacher should have also put g(f(x)) = x as well. Though I can see what your teacher is aiming for at least.

The idea is that whatever the output of g(x) is, it's plugged into f(x) and the initial input is the result. So g(x) takes a step forward and f(x) takes a step back undoing everything g(x) did. Which is exactly what an inverse operation does.

Factor the above quadratic expression.

$x=\frac{-5 \pm \sqrt{5^{2}-4 \cdot 2(-260)}}{2 \cdot 2}

$x=\frac{-5 \pm \sqrt{2105}}{4}

$x=\frac{-5+\sqrt{2105}}{4}, \  x=\frac{-5-\sqrt{2105}}{4}

x = 10.22,   x = –12.72006

Dimension of the figure cannot be measured in negative terms.

Hence x = 10.22 in.

Maurine owns three bagel shops. Each shop sells 500 bagels per day. Maureen asks her store managers to use a random sample to see how many whole wheat bagels are sold at each store each day. Shop A has total of 50 bagels in sample and 10 are whole wheat bagels. Store B has a total of 100 bagels in sample and 23 are whole wheat bagels. Shop C has 25 total bagels in sample and 7 are whole wheat bagels.

We find fraction of whole wheat bagels to the sample for each shop using given information

Shop A = \frac{10}{50}  = 0.20

Shop B = \frac{23}{100}  = 0.23

Shop C = \frac{7}{25}  = 0.28

The number of whole wheat bagels for each shop that sells 500 bagels per day

Shop A = 0.20 * 500= 100

Shop B = 0.23 * 500= 115

Shop C = 0.28 * 500= 140
