Answer:

Sodium-calcium exchanger on the sarcolemma

Explanation:

The sodium-calcium exchanger which is an antiporter membrane protein, removes calcium from cells. The energy of the electrochemical gradient of sodium is used by allowing it to flow down its gradient while moving across the plasma membrane

a bright violet line occurs at 435.8 nm in the emission spectrum of mercury vapor. What amount of energy, in joules, must be rel
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

4.56 × 10^-19 Joules

Explanation:

We are given;

  • Wavelength of the wave as 435.8 nm

We are required to calculate the amount of energy released by an electron.

  • We know that the speed of the wave, c is 2.998 × 10^8 m/s
  • But, c = f × λ , where f is the frequency and λ is the wavelength
  • Energy of a wave is given by the formula;

E = hf , where h is the plank's constant, 6.626 × 10^-34 J-s

But, f = c/λ

Therefore;

f = (2.998 × 10^8 m/s) ÷ (4.358 × 10^-7 m)

  = 6.879 × 10^14 Hz

Thus;

Energy = 6.626 × 10^-34 J-s ×6.879 × 10^14 Hz

            = 4.558 × 10^-19 Joules

            =  4.56 × 10^-19 Joules

Therefore, the energy that must be released by the electron is 4.56 × 10^-19 Joules

Describe an experiment for the preparation and collection of Oxygen sodium peroxide
vitfil [10]

Answer:

Making oxygen

Oxygen can be made from hydrogen peroxide, which decomposes slowly to form water and oxygen:

hydrogen peroxide → water + oxygen

2H2O2(aq) → 2H2O(l) + O2(g)

The rate of reaction can be increased using a catalyst, manganese(IV) oxide. When manganese(IV) oxide is added to hydrogen peroxide, bubbles of oxygen are given off.

Apparatus arranged to measure the volume of gas in a reaction. Reaction mixture is in a flask and gas travels out through a pipe in the top and down into a trough of water. It then bubbles up through a beehive shelf into an upturned glass jar filled with water. The gas collects at the top of the jar, forcing water out into the trough below.

To make oxygen in the laboratory, hydrogen peroxide is poured into a conical flask containing some manganese(IV) oxide. The gas produced is collected in an upside-down gas jar filled with water. As the oxygen collects in the top of the gas jar, it pushes the water out.

Instead of the gas jar and water bath, a gas syringe could be used to collect the oxygen.
