  • Beowulf is the main character in and homonym of the epic poem "Beowulf".

  • He is a great, brave, and strong warrior who defeats three monsters.

  • The third monster Beowulf faces is a dragon, whom Beowulf also calls Worm. In order to fight the dragon, the warrior asks his smiths to build him a shield for protection.

  • Beowulf does defeat the dragon, but he is also defeated by it. The dragon bites the warrior and, because of its venom, Beowulf ends up dying.
