2 Explain why fossil fuels contain large amounts of carbon compounds.
Korvikt [17]

Fossil fuels release carbon dioxide gas when they burn which adds to the greenhouse effect and increases global warming. Of the three fossil fuels, for a given amount of energy released, coal produces the most carbon dioxide and natural gas produces the least.

Use the models that you created in Lesson 2, Lab 1 to help you answer the following question.
masha68 [24]
The answer is B. A smaller cell has more surface area than volume.

This is simple mathematics. Let's imagine that cell is spherical.
Now, we have two spheres: one big (with radius r = 5 cm) and one small (with radius r = 2 cm).
The formula for the surface area of the sphere (A) is A = 4 π r².
The formula for the volume of the square is 4/3 π r³.

Now, let's compare two spheres:

Small sphere:                                                  Big sphere:
r = 2 cm                                                            r = 5 cm
A = 4 π 2² = 50.3 cm²                                      A = 4 π 5² = 314.2 cm²
V = 4/3 π 2³ = 33.5 cm³                                   V = 4/3 π 5 ³ = 523.6 cm³

According to the calculation, the smaller sphere will have more surface area than volume. This can be extrapolated to all shapes, not only spheres, so the smaller cell has more surface area than volume.

How had the aswan high dam changed the soil in egypt
marusya05 [52]

Answer: the dam cause no more fertile soil to enter in to farmers land for growing crops hope this helps :)

Explanation: this dam has caused a big change to the lifes of farmers downstream from the dam. Usually when the river flooded once a year before the dam was built. It deposited fertile soil from upstream on its banks downstream. This washed up soil was extremely furtile, and renewed itself every year at in flood season. But now, since the dam was built the annual flood has been stopped. Causing all the farmers downstream to have to use fertilizers to grow their crops, which makes it more expensive.

When the charge inside the cell returns to the resting potential following depolarization, it is called:
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

Repolarization

Explanation:

Repolarization refers to the phase during which the resting potential is restored after depolarization. This means that the inside of the axon membrane becomes negative again compared to the outside.

Repolarization is obtained by the functioning of K+ ion channels. The opening of K+ ion channels allows the K+ to move outside of the axon. Movement of positively charged ion (K+) outside of axon makes the inside negative again and the resting potential is restored.
