Step1- substitute 1 into the y
= -3x-4 x 1=14
=-3x -4=14
=-3x=14+4
=-3x=18
X=18/-3
X=-6

Need Help With Math. One Question
alina1380 [7]

Answer: 2 < x < 16

The triangle inequality theorem says that if we have a triangle with sides a,b,c then

b-a < c < b+a

with b being longer than 'a'

In this case, a = 7 and b = 9 and c = x

so we have

b-a < c < b+a

9-7 < c < 9+7 .... replace a with 7, replace b with 9

2 < c < 16

2 < x < 16 .... replace c with x

So x can be any number between 2 and 16. The value of x cannot be equal to 2. Also, x cannot be equal to 16 either.

An um contains 1 red marble, 7 white marbles and 2 blue marbles. A player randomly
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

A loss of 1.8$

Step-by-step explanation:

In the bag in this problem, we have:

r = 1 (number of red marbles)

w = 7 (number of white marbles)

b = 2 (number of blue marbles)

n = r + w + b = 1 + 7 + 2 = 10 (number of total marbles)

So, the probabilities of choosing a red, a white or a blue marble are:

p(r) = \frac{r}{n}=\frac{1}{10}=0.1 (probability of choosing a red marble)

p(w)=\frac{w}{n}=\frac{7}{10}=0.7 (probability of choosing a white marble)

p(b) = \frac{b}{n}=\frac{2}{10}=0.2 (probability of choosing a blue marble)

The winning associated to each probability are:

+$5 if the marble is red

-$3 if the marble  is white

-$1 if the marble is blue

So the expected winning can be calculated as follows:

E(X)=p(r) \cdot (+\$5)+p(w) \cdot (-\$3) +p(b)\cdot (-\$1)=\\=(0.1)(+5)+(0.7)(-3)+(0.2)(-1)=-\$1.8

So, he can expect a loss of 1.8$.

Of the cartons produced by a company, 66% have a puncture, 44% have a smashed corner, and 0.50.5% have both a puncture and
Xelga [282]

Answer:

0.095 or 9.5%

Step-by-step explanation:

Puncture → P(P) = 0.06

Smashed corner → P(S) = 0.04

Puncture and smashed corner → P(P and S) = 0.005

The probability that a randomly selected carton has a puncture or a smashed corner is given by the probability of a puncture, added to the probability of a smashed corner, subtracted by the probability of both:

P(P\ or\ S) =P(P)+P(S) - P(P\ and\ S)\\P(P\ or\ S) =0.06+0.04-0.005\\P(P\ or\ S) =0.095=9.5\%

The probability is 0.095 or 9.5%.
