10.75*2.45=  $26.3375 + $.06 + $4.97 + 0.026 = $31.3935 - $20 = $11.3935
≈ $ 11.40
Food tax applies on to gum of 0.65 = 0.026

In 10 years, Roman will be 2 times Seth's age. 5 years ago Roman was 3 times Seth's age. HOW OLD IS SETH???
aalyn [17]
Let s be Seth's age. let r be Romans age. 5 years ago Seth was s-5 and Roman was three times as old, or 3(s-5), or 3s-15=r-5

in ten years Seth will be s+10 and Roman will be twice as old, or 2(s+10), or 2s+20=r+10
3s-15 =r-5
r=3s-10

2s+20=r+10
r=2s+10

3s-10=2s+10
s=20

Seth is 20 years old

setting the two equations equal gives us
3(s-5)=2(s+10)
3s-15=2s+20
s=35

emmainna [20.7K]
<h2>Answer with explanation:</h2>

Let \mu be the population mean.

By considering the given information , we have

Null hypothesis : H_0: \mu=73.4

Alternative hypothesis :  H_a: \mu>73.4

Since alternative hypothesis is right-tailed , so the test is a right-tailed test.

Given : Sample size : n=16 , which is a small sample , so we use t-test.

Sample mean: \overline{x}=78.3  ;

Standard deviation: s=8.4

Test statistic for population mean:

t=\dfrac{\overline{x}-\mu}{\dfrac{s}{\sqrt{n}}}

i.e. t=\dfrac{78.3-73.4}{\dfrac{8.4}{\sqrt{16}}}\approx2.333

Using the standard normal distribution table of t , we have

Critical value for \alpha=0.01 : t_{(n-1,\alpha)}=t_{(15,0.01)}=2.602

Since , the absolute value of t (2.333) is smaller than the critical value of t (2.602) , it means we do not have sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis.

Hence, we conclude that we do not have enough evidence to support the claim that answering questions while studying produce significantly higher exam scores.
