It is bad and good. It is good for children to have phones so that their parents can contact them if needed, and if the child is in danger or has an emergency, they can call 911 or their parents. A bad thing though about having a phone at a young age at school is that the child can be easily distracted with it, and this can take away from the learning and attention towards the lesson and the teacher, which then can lead to bad grades and lack of respect towards the teacher.
