Answer: Republican and Democratic voters disagree about a lot. But the divide between each party’s members is much wider than simply distinct policy positions and different evaluations of candidates. Each party’s supporters define the terms and stakes of political competition quite differently. Republicans believe they’re battling over two opposing ideologies, while Democrats view partisan conflict instead as a fight between different social groups. Democrats “want the government to run everything and they think the government can fix everything.” Republicans “want people to be personally responsible for their own lives.”The Democratic Party “promotes big government, secularism, elitism and collectivism.” The Republican Party “pushes for cutting the size of the federal government.” Democrats are “quite socialistic, [giving] way too much power to the government.” Republicans are for “fiscal responsibility and conservatism . . . less government, more power to the states, encouraging jobs . . . with less dependency on the federal government.” Democrats “support the poor and middle class.” Republicans “look out for the rich and don’t care about the poor and middle class.” Democrats have “concern for the working class . . . [and have] always worked to help women.” Republicans’ “concern is for people who have money.” Democrats are “the party of the common man.” Republicans are “for rich, mainly white older folks who tend to be quite judgmental, narrow-minded and unconcerned for their fellow Americans.”

aniked [119]

A persuasive message is the central message that intrigues, informs, convinces, or calls to action. Persuasive messages are often discussed in phrases of cause versus emotion. Every message has elements of ethos, or credibility; pathos, or passion and enthusiasm; and logos, or common sense and reason.

When a person is making a persuasive argument?

It tries to persuade a reader to adopt a certain point of view or to take a precise action. The argument ought to constantly use sound reasoning and strong evidence with the aid of mentioning facts, giving logical reasons, using examples, and quoting experts.

At some point, it will occur to you that there is this oddity in the argument: most people living in a civil society never actua
Dominik [7]

There is no objective answer to this question, as both sides have arguments that support their views.

If you believe that you are bound by Hobbes' argument, it is because of tacit consent. Tacit consent means that, even though you have not explicitly agreed to follow laws, you have indicated your agreement through other means, for example, by using the public services of the government or by remaining within the limits of your country. Also, you could argue that any rational person would prefer to follow the rules of the government than to live in the state of nature. Therefore, if you are rational, your consent is assumed. Finally, you could also argue that while you did not explicitly agreed, maybe your ancestors did, which still binds you as a member of the same society.

On the other hand, if you believe that you are not bound by Hobbes' argument, you could argue that any contract that is not freely agreed upon is not valid. As the government uses force to make you act according to the law, you cannot be considered to be freely consenting. Also, you can argue that agreeing to follow some rules does not imply following all of the laws of the country. Finally, a common argument against Hobbes is the lack of empirical data. As we do not know if the state of nature is actually bad, or if the contract ever happened, the government cannot gain its legitimacy in that way.
