"Liberty steaks"
The strong anti-German sentiment that existed in the United States during the First World War motivated an effort to refer to hamburgers by a non-German name. America was fighting for liberty -- "to make the world safe for democracy," in the words of President Woodrow Wilson. So "hamburgers" began to be referred to as "liberty steaks" and another German-named food, sauerkraut, was called "liberty cabbage."
Something similar occurred in the United States when France expressed opposition to the US pursuing war in Iraq in 2003. Some began referring to French fries as "freedom fries."

Answer:
Isolationism....
Explanation:
America’s foreign policy before we became involved in WWI was isolationism. We became involved when Germany sunk the Lusitania, which is a British passenger ship. Another reason for involvement was the Zimmerman Telegram. Which was a letter from Germany to Mexico stating that Mexico should attack the US if the US goes to war with Germany (needed that advantage due to Mexico's proximity to the US). In return, Germany would give back Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, etc to Mexico.
<span>Not all military leaders felt that dropping the atomic bomb was ethical. One example is Admiral William Leahy, he claimed that the Japanese were going to surrender and that they were already defeated because the Americans had already invaded some surrounding islands of Japan. Here is a quote from him
"The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons."
Another example is General Dwight Eisenhower. He thought it was unnecessary.
A quote from General Dwight Eisenhower:
"I voiced ... my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion."<span> </span></span>
