Engineering controls are possible interventions intended to reduce worker exposure to biological,chemical and physical agents. They are divided into two categories, ventilation and non-ventilation controls. Ventilation controls are designed to control contaminants once released,like introducing clean air to a workplace, replacing contaminated air. Non-ventilation controls reduce process emission rate, like use of well fitting lids to liquid containers.

This includes tests for CV endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. While skill-related fitness aims to gauge a person's specific skill in specific sports-related activities. This includes tests for agility, balance, coordination, speed, and reaction time.
