Answer:

x= -2/5 or -0.4

Step-by-step explanation:

an acronym that i use that helps me is D.C.M.S. ( distribute, combine like terms, move variable, solve) so first you want to distribute, but since there is no need for distribution in this problem, we can skip that, as well as combining like terms. so then, we have to move the variable. i moved the 3x by subtracting it on both sides. so now we have 5x+4=2. then you just solve from there; subtract 4: 5x= -2; divide by 5. hope this helps :)

The graph of f(x)=|x| is reflected over the y-axis and horizontally compressed by a factor of 1/9. Write a formula for function
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Reflection over the y-axis = change x\mapsto -x

Compress by a factor of k = multiply by k

So, in your case, we first change the sign of the argument. Note that this has no effect, because f(x) is symmetric with respect to the y-axis:

|x|\mapsto |-x| = |x|

Then, we compress the function, multiplying it by the scaling factor:

|x| \mapsto g(x)=\dfrac{|x|}{9}

What is the sum and simplified
Vinvika [58]
Step 1) Find common denominator. In this case it was 28.
Step 2) Multiply 1/4 by seven to get 7/28 and then 2/7 by 4 to get 14/28.
Step 3) Add numerators: 7+14 to get 21
Step 4) Simpify your new added Fraction 21/28= 3/4

Your answer is 3/4
Please let me know if you would like further explanation (:

need help really bad, Write the equation of the line in Slope-Intercept Form, with no spaces. For example y=-2x-5
cupoosta [38]
Y = 2x - 3

y = (slope)x + (y-intercept)
slope is rise over run which is up 6 over right 3 ... slope = 2
y-intercept is where the graph crosses y-axis ... y-intercept = -3
