Why did people challenge Copernicus idea that the sun was at the center of the universe? What was missing in their logic?

They challenge Copernicus because
1. People back then wet not open minded. Think of it as trying to explain to your old school grandparents that being gay is okay. They are usually closed minded because that was not how they were raised. So the people did not want to be said they were wrong and they didn't want there reputations as scholars (most of them were scholars) to be tarnished. They're logic was that they weren't open minded.

Hey! I know other people are using this website so a heads up to anyone having trouble, this idea was challenged because of 1. stuborness and pride. 2. people had not discovered gravity yet so they would try to disprove spinning Earth by shooting an arrow and saying "It's not going off into the sky, is it?" at this point in time they thought that God was the thing bonding things to the Earth so there was strong argument.
