Probability is the ratio of the number of possible outcome to the number of total outcome. The probability of an event happening or another is the sum of the individual probabilities.
As such, if A and B are two events, the probability of occurrence of either A or B is given as
= p(A) + p(B)
where p(A) and p(B) are the probabilities of A happening and B happening respectively.
