In a certain college, 33% of the math majors belong to ethnic minorities. If 7 students are selected at random from the math maj
Digiron [165]

Answer: a) 0.996, b) 0.253, c) 0.02.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Probability of success = Probability of the math majors belong to ethnic minorities = 33% = 0.33 =p

Probability of failure = q = 1-0.33 = 0.67

Number of students selected = 7

a) No more than 5 belong to an ethnic minority

So, using "binomial distribution", we get that

P(X\leq 5)=\sum^5 _{x=0} ^5C_x(0.33)^x(0.67)^{5-x}=0.996

b. Exactly three of them belong to an ethnic minority

So, it becomes,

P(X=3)=^7C_3(0.33)^3(0.67)^4=0.253

c. None of them belong to an ethnic minority

P(X=0)=^7C_0(0.33)^0(0.67)^7=0.02

Hence, a) 0.996, b) 0.253, c) 0.02.

Show by means of an example that lim x-> a [f(x) + g(x)] may exist evn though neither lim x-> a f(x) adn lim x -> a g(x
kirza4 [7]
For example f(x) is a negative g(x) plus some simple function.
g(x) = 1/ (x-a)
f(x) = (-1)/(x-a) + x

How do I solve this geometry proof?
viktelen [127]

I don't remember the names of the theorems at all, but we know that AD ≈ DE ≈ EB (Segment Addition). Which means <ACD ≈ <DCE ≈ <ECB (not completely sure how to prove this). Therefore, <1 ≈ <2. (Don't forget to state that <1 ≈ <ACD and <2 ≈ <ECB). With this and Angle Addition, we know that <ACE ≈ <DCB, so with SAS Congruence Theorem, we can prove ΔACE ≈ ΔBCD.

Hope that helps

Veronica works at a music store last week she sold five more than three times the number of headphones that she sold this week.
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

14 headphones

Step-by-step explanation:

Use algebraic manipulation. Let x be the number of headphones sold this week:

89 = x + (3x + 5)

Combine like terms:

89 = 4x + 5

Get the x's on one side:

84 = 6x

Divide:

14 = x

So, Veronica sold 14 headphones this week.
