Which ordered pair is the best estimate for the solution of the system of equations? y=32x+6 y=14x−2

Mathematics

8 0

since y = both rewrite as

32x+6 = 14x-2 and solve for x

32x +6 = 14x-2

add 2 to both sides:

32x +8 = 14x

subtract 32x from both sides:

8 = -18x

divide both sides by -18

x = 8/-18 which reduces to -4/9

now use that for x and solve for Y

32(-4/9) +6 = -74/9

ordered pair:

(-4/9, -74/9)

Marita drives a total of 1,456 miles during her vacation. She drives at an average speed of 52 miles per hour. For how many hour
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

28 hours

Step-by-step explanation: you divide 1,456 by 52

52 goes into 145 2 times which is 104, then subtract 104 from 145 to get 41, next bring down the 6 from 1,456 to 41 to make it 416 which 52 goes into 8 perfectly. to make the answer 28

Apples: $(2x) per pound
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

Shopper spend $3 on Apples, $4 on Grapes and $3.5 on Oranges

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost of one pound of Apple = $2x

Cost of one pound of Grapes = $(6x-5)

Cost of one pound of Oranges = $(x+2)

A shopper purchases one pound each of  apples, grapes, and oranges and spends  $10.50.

It can be written as: 2x+6x-5+x+2=10.50

We need to find how much the shopper spend on each fruit.

First we need to find value of x by solving equation

2x+6x-5+x+2=10.50

Solving:

2x+6x+x+2-5=10.50\\9x-3=10.50\\9x=10.50+3\\9x=13.5\\x=\frac{13.5}{9}\\x=1.5

The value of x is: x=1.5

Now finding cost of one pound each fruit by putting x=1.5

Cost of one pound of Apple = $2x = 2(1.5) = $3

Cost of one pound of Grapes = $(6x-5) = (6(1.5)-5)= $4

Cost of one pound of Oranges = $(x+2)=(1.5+2)=$3.5

So,

Cost of one pound of Apple  = $3

Cost of one pound of Grapes = $4

Cost of one pound of Oranges = $3.5

So, shopper spend $3 on apples, $4 on Grapes and $3.5 on Oranges

Pick any value in the y column of the table. I'm going to pick 81. Divide the value you picked by the previous y value, which in my case would be 9

Dividing the values gives: 81/9 = 9

So the base is 9. We multiply each y value by 9 to get the next y value
Eg: to go from 1/81 to 1/9, we multiply by 9. Same for 1/9 to 1, and so on.

Answer: Choice B) 9

Note: This trick only works because x is increasing by 1 each time

Solve 5x - c = k for x<br><br> Answers above
Rama09 [41]

Answer:

x = ( k+c)/5

Step-by-step explanation:

5x - c = k

Add c to each side

5x -c+c = k+c

5x = k+c

Divide by 5

5x/5= ( k+c)/5

x = ( k+c)/5
