Use the Pythagorean theorem. a^2 + b^2 = c^2 The 16.5 is c^2 because is not adjacent to the right angle and is the longest. So the problem is 9.2^2 + x^2 = 16.5^2. Once you square them you should get 84.64 + x^2 = 272.25. Then subtract 84.64 from 272.25 to get 187.61. Then you have x^2 = 187.61. Then you will need to get rid of the ^2 so square root both sides. Then you should get your answer of about 13.697. You should prob round this number though to the nearest 10th.

Answer:

x=13.7

Step-by-step explanation:

a^2+b^2=c^2

9.2^2+x^2=16.5^2

84.64+x^2=272.25    272.25-84.64=187.61

x^2=187.61

x=\sqrt{187.61

x=13.697080=13.7

What is the general process for solving an equation with one variable?
elena55 [62]
Greetings!

"<span>What is the general process for solving an equation with one variable?"...

Typically when solving an equation with one variable, your objective is to isolate the variable on one side of the equation. This can be done adding/subtracting number to cancel them out on one side. You can also multiply/divide coefficients in order to isolate a variable.

Example:
</span>2x+4=64
<span>Add -4 to both sides to isolate the variable.
</span>(2x+4)+(-4)=(64)+(-4)<span>
Simplify.
</span>2x=60
Divide both sides by 2 to isolate the variable on one side.
(2x)/2=(60)/2
x=30

Hope this helps.

Find the area of a trapezoid with bases that measure 9.2 CM and 7.7 cm and height 6.8 cm
maria [59]
\bf \textit{area of a trapezoid}\\\\&#10;A=\cfrac{h(a+b)}{2}~~&#10;\begin{cases}&#10;a,b=\stackrel{bases}{parallel~sides}\\&#10;h=height\\&#10;---------\\&#10;a=9.2\\&#10;b=7.7\\&#10;h=6.8&#10;\end{cases}\implies A=\cfrac{6.8(9.2+7.7)}{2}
