AleksandrR [38]

The probability that exactly 6 are defective is 0.0792.

Given:

30% of the bulbs in a large box are defective.

If 12 bulbs are selected randomly from the box.

To find:

The probability that exactly 6 are defective.

Solution:

Probability of defective bulbs is:

p=30\%

p=\dfrac{30}{100}

p=0.3

Probability of non-defective bulbs is:

q=1-p

q=1-0.3

q=0.7

The probability that exactly 6 are defective is:

P(x=r)=^nC_rp^rq^{n-r}

P(x=6)=^{12}C_6(0.3)^6(0.7)^{12-6}

P(x=6)=924(0.3)^6(0.7)^{6}

P(x=6)=0.0792478958

P(x=6)\approx 0.0792

Therefore, the probability that exactly 6 are defective is 0.0792.

The Benz C300 markup should be $15525. The markup price for the new Toyota Highland should be $43470

Step-by-step explanation:

For the used Benz C300

Initial price $12,000

Apply import duty for Nigeria which is 25%, which is similar to increasing the price by 25%

100% +25%=125%

12000*125/100 = $15000

Apply the 15% profit

100%+15%=115%

15000*115/100 =$17250

Apply the 10% discount, reducing the price by 10%

100%-10%=90%

17250*90/100 =$15525

The Benz C300 markup should be $15525

For the Toyota Highlander

Initial price = $30,000

Apply import duty for Nigeria for new cars, which is 40%, which is similar to increasing the car price by 40%

100%+40%=140%

30,000*140/100 =$42000

Apply the 15% profit

15%+100%=115%

115/100*42000 =$48300

Apply the 10% discount

100%-10%=90%

48300*90/100=$43470

The markup price for the new Toyota Highland should be $43470

Justin is asked to solve the following system of linear equations using the elimination method.
romanna [79]

Alright, lets get started.

Justin is asked to solve the linear equations using elimination method.

By using elimination method means we have to multiply some numbers in our given equations in such a way that the co-efficient of x or y become same in both equations so that we could add or subtract them to cancel one of the term either x or y.

So, given equations are :

5x - 12 = 3

-20x + 14 y = 13

See we have 5x in first equation and -20x in second equation.

So, we try to change 5x into 20 x by multiplying it with 4, both of the equations will have 20 x in common

Lets multiply 4 in first equation

4 * (5x-12y) = 4 * 3

20x - 48y = 12

Now both equations could be added and 20 x will be cancelled out and we could easily find the value of y then solve for x.

So, Justin should try to change 5 so that it will be cancels, so option B  :  Answer

Hope it will help :)
