Developmentalists are interested in how individuals evolve over time, what characteristics change and what characteristics stay relatively constant, and why and how change occurs. Human development is now recognized as a lifelong process by scientists, a term known as life-span development.
Growth and improvements in the body and brain, the senses, motor skills, and health and wellbeing are all part of physical development. Learning, attention, memory, vocabulary, thought, reasoning, and imagination are all aspects of cognitive development. Emotions, personality, and social interactions all play a role in psychosocial growth.
