Too much UV radiation from the sun or sunbeds can damage the genetic material (the DNA) in your skin cells. If enough DNA damage builds up over time, it can cause cells to start growing out of control, which can lead to skin cancer

Choose whether each of the following statements is true or false. In order to move a massive crate sitting on the floor, the for
velikii [3]

Answer:

Explanation:

1. False

The force you apply on crate is equal and opposite to the force that crate applies on you by Newton's third law of motion.

The force must over come the static frictional force between the crate and the  floor.

2. True

The object can move along another direction than the direction of net force. For example, when a car slows down, the net force is opposite to the direction of motion.

3. True

An object moving at constant velocity has zero net force acting on it.

4. False

An object at rest has forces acting on it but the summation of all the forces is zero i.e. the net force is zero.

Newton's first law of motion states that an object will keep a constant speed and direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced f
trasher [3.6K]

Answer:

The unbalanced force that caused the ball to stop was friction

Explanation:

As Newton's second law states, the acceleration of an object is proportional to the net force applied on the object:

F=ma

therefore, in order to move at constant speed, an object should have a net force of zero (balanced forces) acting on it.

In this case, the ball slows down and eventually comes to a stop: it means that the ball is decelerating, so there are unbalanced forces (net force different from zero) acting on it. The unbalanced force acting on the ball is the friction: friction is a force against the motion of the object, which is due to the contact between the surface of the ball and the surface of the street, and this force is responsible for slowing down the ball.

A bicyclist is travelling at 25 m/s when he begins to decelerate at -4m/s2 . How fast is travelling after 5 seconds
Umnica [9.8K]

Initial velocity (Vi) = 25 m/s

acceleration (a) = -4 m/s^{2}

time interval (t) = 5 sec

let us assume that final velocity after 5 sec be Vf

As acceleration is constant, we can apply the the equation of motion with constant acceleration i.e. V_{f} = V_{i} + at

Hence, V_{f} = 25 +(-4)(5) = 25 -20 = 5 m/s

so, the velocity of bicyclist will be 5 m/s after 5 sec

2. A car accelerates uniformly from +10.0 m/s to +50.0 m/s over a distance of 225 m. How long did it take to go that distance? S
artcher [175]
Let's call the constant acceleration a.
At a time t, its speed will thus be v(t)=a*t+v0 where v0 is its initial speed, here 10 m/s. Hence v(t)=a*t+10.

From there we can deduce the position P(t)=a*t^2/2+10t+p0 where p0 is the initial position, here 0.

Hence P(t)=a*t^2/2+10t

Let's call T the time at which it's at 50 m/s, we know that P(T)=225m and that v(T)=50 m/s hence a*T+10=50 thus a=40/T and P(T)=(40/2+10)T=30T

Hence T=225/30=7.5

It took 7.5 seconds
