"Single Factor ANOVA with Blocks. The Forest Service conducted an experiment on the growth rate of eight provenances (trees grow

ing at a particular place of origin) of Gmelina arborea (the treatments) were compared with respect to the girth at breast-height (gbh) of the trees attained since 6 years of planting (the Response Variable). Since planting location could be a factor in growth, they used three blocks as plot locations that represented different soils and gradients.
a. List the degrees of freedom for the Provenances and the Blocks.

Answer:

The degrees of freedom, in statistics, it's an equation that represents how many values of all data have the freedom to variate. The main function of this statistical magnitude is to ensure statistical validity, because if there're too many values that can variate, would mean that all of them are too separated from each other, which probably will skew the analysis.

In addition, to calculate the degrees of freedom (df), we apply this simple equation: df = N - 1; where N is the sample selected for the study. So, the experiment conducted uses 8 provenances, therefore, they df would be 7 (df = 8-1).

On the other hand, in the study, there are 3 blocks, which means that the degrees of freedom is 2 (df = 3 - 1).

Moreover, the df is a tiny part of the statistical analysis, but it's pretty helpful because it can allow the analyst to determine a probability value, which is the expected result.

Find the length of the third side. If necessary, write in simplest radical form.
lord [1]

Answer:

\sqrt{13}

Step-by-step explanation:

let the 3rd side, the hypotenuse, be x

Using Pythagoras' identity in the right triangle.

The square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other 2 sides, that is

x² = 2² + 3² = 4 + 9 = 13 ( take square root of both sides )

x = \sqrt{13}

The function D(t)=18t2−130t gives the distance a car going a certain speed will skid in t seconds. Find the time it would take f
Assoli18 [71]

The time it will take for the car to skid for 150 feet is 8.23 seconds.

<h3>How to find the time the car will skid?</h3>

The function D(t) = 18t² − 130t gives the distance a car going a certain speed will skid in t seconds.

The time the it would take for the car to skid for 150 feet can be calculated as follows:

Therefore,

D(t) = 18t² - 130t

150 =  18t² - 130t

18t² - 130t - 150 = 0

divide by 3

9t² - 65t - 75 = 0

Hence,

t = 65 ± 5√277 / 18

t = 8.23425471586 or -1.01166666667

Hence,

t = 8.23 seconds.

Therefore, the time it will take for the car to skid for 150 feet is 8.23 seconds.
