He was a typical explorer. He would explore for three main reasons mother countries explored, gold, god and glory. To find wealth in spices and precious metals, to spread his catholic religion, and to find glory in his adventures.
The main thing that the Founding Fathers were trying to create when they divided powers between the judicial, legislative, and executive branches was "<span>d. checks and balances," since they felt that this was the best way to keep any one branch from having too much power. </span>

The Virginia Plan addressed the issue of representation by promoting the idea of representation in Congress being based on state population size, as opposed to having a set number of representatives per state. The issue was eventually solved with the Connecticut Compromise.
