The answer is 13.76 sq inches first you find the area of the plywood 8x8=64 then you minus the area of the circle cut out. So that formula is pir^2 and that is 3.14x16=50.24 now minus it off plywood area 64-50.24=13.76 square inches

Get the x terms by themselves on one side and a constant on the other side of the equal sign...

4x^2-8x=1  make the leading coefficient equal to one...

x^2-2x=1/4  now halve the linear coefficient, -2 in this case, square it, and add that value to both sides of the equation...-2/2=-1, -1^2=1 so

x^2-2x+1=1+1/4

x^2-2x+1=5/4  now the left side is a perfect square...

(x-1)^2=5/4  take the square root of both sides...

x-1=±√(5/4)  add 1 to both sides

x=1±√(5/4)

Sally has 30 feet of ribbon. She cuts strips each of length 2 2/5 feet from the ribbon. Sally says I can cut 13 of these strips
lakkis [162]

Answer: See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

For us to know the number of strips that Sally can cut from the ribbon, we have to divide 30 feet by 2 2/5 feet. This will be:

= 30 ÷ 2 2/5

= 30 ÷ 12/5

= 30 × 5/12

= 25/2

= 12 1/2 strips

Therefore, the maximum number of strips that Sally can cut is 12 and not 13.
