<span>The Enlightment idea that reason trumped tradition is what pervaded the entire process of the writing of the Constitution. But the ProtestantEstablishment of the time viewed the enlightenment as anti religious. Historian Daniel Boorstin had significant influence when he wrote that the American Revolution was not due to a pervading influence of the Enlightment. Rather it was the common experience of the colonies of oppression.  I recommend looking at the Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of the American Enlightenment</span>
