There is a goose that lays golden eggs, one each year, arriving at the end of the year. Each egg weighs one pound. The price of
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer:

$133,880

Explanation:

Missing word <em>"How much is this goose worth today?"</em>

<em />

Each year 1 golden egg, we get which weighed at 1 pond

1 pound = 16 ounce

Therefore 1 golden egg = 16 ounce

Therefore 1 golden egg = 16 ounce * $1,246/ounce

Therefore 1 golden egg = $19,952

Therefore  for 10 years discounted at 8%, the worth of the goose shall be

= Yearly cash flow * Sum of D.F.8%, 10 years

= $19,952 * 6.7101

= $133,880

So, the worth of the goose today is $133,880

Dmitry [639]

Answer:

Material Price Variance= $ 11640 favorable

Material Quantity Variance= $6800 Unfavorable

Explanation:

Becton Labs, Inc.

Standard Quantity= 2.6ounce * 3600 units =  9360 ounces

Actual quantity used:  Purchases Less Ending Inventory 13000 ounces- 3300 ounces=  9700 ounces

Actual price : $244,400/13,000=  $ 18.8

Standard price : $ 20.00

Material Price Variance= (Actual Price * Actual Quantity)- (Standard Price * Actual Quantity)

Material Price Variance= ($ 18.80 * 9700)-($20.0 *9700)= $ 182360- $ 194000= 11640 Favorable

Material Price Variance= $ 11640 favorable

Material Quantity Variance= (Standard Price * Actual Quantity)-(Standard Price * Standard Quantity)

Material Quantity Variance=($20 *9700)-($ 20 * 9360)

Material Quantity Variance=$ 194000-187200= 6800

Material Quantity Variance= $6800 Unfavorable

Total direct materials variance= $ 11640 favorable -$6800 Unfavorable

Total direct materials variance= 4840 favorable

2. Yes they should as he is offering less price than the standard price.

Even if more material is used the total material variance is favorable indicating a gain not a loss.

Explain what is happening during each phase of the cycle with: I. output, II. employment III. and inflation
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

During each phase of the economic cycle of Recession and Expansion, the following economic variables fluctuate, accordingly:

I. Output: During Recession, production output reduces.  But, during expansion, product output rises with rising income, employment, and even stable inflation.

II. Employment: During phases of economic Expansion, employment rises, while it contracts during the phases of Recession.

III. Inflation: Due to rising income and output during economic expansionary periods, inflation rate also rises.  It reduces when the economy enters a recession.

Explanation:

Business or Economic Cycle describes the recurrent, but not periodic, sequence of changes in the aggregate economic activities of a nation.  It usually cascades between the spectrum of expansion and recession.  This means that there is an alternation of the phases of economic cycle between expansion and contraction (recession) when the aggregate economic activities may rise or decline due to the equal movement of economic variables like the GDP output, employment, income, and sales.

How would you characterize the strategy for competing internationally that ford was pursuing prior to the arrival of alan mullal
miskamm [114]

1. Prior to the arrival of Alan Mullay, Ford was following a strategy of offering products that were modified as per the tastes and preferences of the local market. It did not pusrue a strategy of standardization. For Ford, the focus was to meet the particular demands of local consumers. The benefits of this strategy was that particular tastes and preferences of loacl consumers were satisfied by producing models with different specifications for different markets. For example, Americans love SUVs and trucks while Asian and European consumers have a preference for fuel efficient cars. This strategy helps Ford to cater to all the different needs.

In terms of costs, such a stratgey increased the production and operations costs as the economies of scale could bot be achieved. Further advantages of standardization like common parts, sharing of development costs could not have been reaped by Ford, thus increasing costs. Ford was pursuing this strategy due to the autonomy of different regions within Ford's organization.

<span>2. With the One Ford initiative, Mullay is trying to create car platforms that can be used accross the globe without any need for modifications and customizations. The benefits of this strategy is that development costs will be shared among different markets, common parts can be procured for a car model and eventually economies of scale can be achieved. For example, small cars like</span> Focus will have the same set of requirements accross the globe and can be standardized easily. In terms of drawbacks, Ford will not be able to cater to regional nuances in the taste of customers belonging to different markets.

<span>3. The One Ford initiative does not imply that Ford will now disregard national and regional differences in demand. It will merely cut down the number of platforms that stands at 15 currently to around five platforms. Minor modifications will be allowed under the platform and these minor modifications will ensure that national and regional differences in demand is satisfied. This is specially the case for smaller cars like  Focus, or the Escape SUV.</span>
