Why did the catholic church oppose the spreading of the heliocentric theory by scientists
Cerrena [4.2K]

The Catholic Church strongly opposed the spreading of the heliocentric theory because it meant that the holy book of Christianity, the Bible, was wrong, and that what they were propagating for centuries that the Earth was the center of the universe and that everything circles around our planet was a lie. This was going to make a big damage on the credibility of the church and the skepticism towards it would have grown more and more. 30 POINTS
solmaris [256]

Answer:

Question 8: The legislative branch may remove judges.

Question 9: The Supreme Court may judge executive acts unconstitutional.

Question 10: Congress may override a presidential Veto.

Explanation:

Question 8: The legislative branch may remove federal judges for misconduct, this is very rare, but is one of the main checks the legislative branch has over the judicial branch. The legislative branch does not appoint federal judges, that is a prerogative of the president, Congress can only confirm or veto the president's chosen judges.

Question 9: If any executive action or act is challenged in court, the judicial branch has the power to overturn it if it finds it unconstitutional. The judicial branch does not make the laws, it only interprets them and decides when they are unconstitutional.

Question 10: Congress can impeach the president, although it has happened only twice in history (Andrew Jackson and Nixon). The Supreme Court cannot impeach the president. The most common check used by congress is to override a presidential veto. While the legislative makes laws, it cannot decide on matters of unconstitutionality.

How did the notherners react to the passage of the fugitive slave act
garik1379 [7]
The northerners greatly disagreed with the act. The Fugitive Slave Act meant that if a slave ever escaped, he/she could be caught and returned to his/her owner. The northerners were primarily abolitionists, so they strongly disagreed with the Fugitive Slave Act.

quester [9]

Washington's address argued for a careful foreign policy of friendly neutrality that would avoid creating implacable enemies or international friendships of dubious value, nor entangle the United States in foreign alliances.

Washington's presidency was significant beyond the fact that he was the first president. His actions established a strong central government and helped put in place a plan to fix the problem of the national debt.
