Why do I cry when getting yelled at but not when my mom died

Well... humans are strange creatures, love. We all react differently to differnt situations. Sometimes, we cry when we're heartbroken. Other times, our emotions are suppressed. When I dealt with a family death, I didn't cry for months... but when my stepdad yells at me, I cry so hard that I cannot speak properly.
