Which explains how Langston Hughes's "I, Too, Sing America" alludes to Walt Whitman's "I Hear America Singing"?
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer: Hughes's poem uses Whitman's idea that all Americans are important members of this country's society.

Explanation:

Whitman's poem<em> "I Hear America Singing"</em>, and Hughes' "<em> I, Too, Sing America</em>" have an idea in common - that all people, including black people, are important members of the American society. In his poem, Whitman writes about people of various professions who, despite all the differences between them, feel happy and free in America. Hughes, on the other hand, tries to prove this point through a metaphor: the speaker of the poem (who is a black man) describes himself as a "darker brother" that has to hide in the kitchen when the guests arrive. This man has a right to feel free in his country, but is treated unfairly. The point that both poets try to convey is that freedom should be promised to all people, regardless of their race, profession, or any other factor.

Look more closely at the figurative language Johnson used in "Lift Every Voice and Sing." What are some specific ways the langua
faust18 [17]

In the poem "Lift Every Voice and Sing" (1900) by James Weldon Johnson, the use of figurative language draws a parallel between the past of suffering represented by slavery and a present of hope represented by the Civil Rights Movements. We can observe those differences in some verses like:

“Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,

Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us. “

In this verses, it´s clear the belief in a transition from a dark past to a present of hope.

"Stony the road we trod,

Bitter the chastening rod,

Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;

Yet with a steady beat,

Have not our weary feet

Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?

We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,

We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,

Out from the gloomy past,

Till now we stand at last

Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. "

In this part a he describes how the old generations ("our fathers") of black people paved the way with a lot of o sorrow and pain (Stony the road we trod/Bitter the chastening rod) through a "gloomy past" to achieve this moment when the new generations can dream with a better future ("Till now we stand at last/Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast).

What role did gods and goddesses play within Greek culture and The Odyssey? How do they interact with humans? Provide at least t
snow_lady [41]
I can't provide examples from the Odyssey, but I have a vast knowledge of Greek mythology. Hope this helps!

Gods and goddesses often aid the humans or hinder them. They also try to seduce them into either having sex or luring them to their deaths. They also tend to take sides in human wars often fixing the outcome.
