Well you there is an easier way of doing this.

Use RISE/RUN
and use the distance formula so

d= *square root* (x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2

Now when we rise we get 3 so x will be 3 and when we move to the left it is -5 so

*square root* (3)^2 + (-5)^2
=5.83

What is the scale factor of triangle ABC to DEF ?
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:  The correct option is (A). 3.

Step-by-step explanation:  We are given to find the scale factor of dilation from ΔABC to ΔDEF.

As shown in the figure, the lengths of the sides of ΔABC to ΔDEF are

AB = 5 units, BC = 4 units, CA = 3 units,

DE = 15 units, EF = 12 units, FD = 9 units.

We know that the scale factor is given by

S=\dfrac{\textup{length of a side of the dilated figure}}{\textup{length of the corresponding side of the original figure}}.

Therefore, the scale factor of dilation from from ΔABC to ΔDEF is

S=\dfrac{DE}{AB}=\dfrac{15}{5}=3.

Thus, the required scale factor is 3.

Option (A) is correct.

Explain why the polynomial 100x^2 + 150x + 49 is not a perfect square.
Ad libitum [116K]
Answer: The correct answer is Choice C.

For this polynomial to be a perfect square, it would need to be:
(10x + 7)^2

This will ensure that the first terms and the last terms will be 100x^ and 49. However, if you use foil to multiply the factors, you will not get 150x for the center term. Choice C also states that 150x will not be the middle term.
