Ellis island the place where immigrants  that came into United States gathered in order to finish their final paper work. Many of these immigrants came into United States to seek either economic freedom or actual tyranny from their original country.

The statue of Liberty is a symbolic welcoming gesture that Untied States gave to these immigrants. It's sign that they have the fresh start and the freedom to pursue whatever they want the moment they arrive here.
