For every adult, there must be at least one student.
let x be student, let y be adult

y = 2x

y + x = 240
5x + 10y = maximum amount.

plug in 2x for y

2x + x = 240

3x = 240

3x/3 = 240/3

x = 240/3

x = 80

There are 80 students, and 160 adults.

160 adults = $1600
80 students = $400

This will generate a total of $2000 dollars

160 adults, 80 students should be your answer

hope this helps

Find the midpoint of the segment with the given endpoints.
(-10,- 6) and (-3,7)
Marina CMI [18]

Step-by-step explanation:

in essence, these 2 points are the Hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle. the legs are the coordinate differences between the 2 points creating the 3rd point of that triangle at (-10, 7) : the x coordinate of one point, and the y coordinate of the other.

now, we are looking for the midpoint. this midpoint cuts the original line/hypotenuse in half creating a scaling factor of 1/2.

when we create now a similar triangle based on that "half- Hypotenuse", we need to use the same scaling factor also on the legs (the coordinate differences).

so, when we cut the coordinate differences also in half, we get the coordinates for the midpoint on the main line.

xm, ym are the coordinates of the midpoint.

xm = (x1 + x2)/2 = (-10-3)/2 = -13/2 = -6.5

ym = (y1 + y2)/2 = (-6+7)/2 = 1/2 = 0.5

so, the midpoint is (-6.5, 0.5)

An assembly consists of two mechanical components. Suppose that the probabilities that the first and second components meet spec
Finger [1]

Answer:

P(X = 0) = 0.0176

P(X = 1) = 0.2348

P(X = 2) = 0.7476

Step-by-step explanation:

Because there are 2 mechanical components you have 3 differents scenarios:

1. The 2 components dont meet the specification (X = 0)

2. 1 of the 2 component doesnt meet the specification (X = 1)

3. The 2 components meet the specification. (X = 2)

P(A) = 0.89

The probability that A doesnt meet the specification is 1- P(A) = 0.11

P(B) = 0.84

The probability that A doesnt meet the specification is 1- P(B) = 0.16

Then using those probabilities to determine the probabilities of each scenario you get:

1. The 2 components dont meet the specification

P (X = 0) = (1 - P(A)) * (1- P(B))

P (X = 0) = 0.11 * 0.16 = 0.0176

2. 1 of the 2 component doesnt meet the specification (X = 1)

P (X = 1) = P(A)*(1- P(B)) + P(B)*(1 - P(A)) /// (The probability that A meets specification and B doesnt or B that meets specification and A doesnt)

P (X = 1) = 0.89*0.16 + 0.84*0.11 = 0.2348

3. The 2 components meet the specification. (X = 2)

P(X = 2) = 0.89*0.84 = 0.7476

2(x-1) ≥ 10 or 3-4x > 15
Solve the compound inequality, and show work!
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

x\geq 6\text{ or } x

Step-by-step explanation:

We have the compound inequality:

2(x-1)\geq10\text{ or } 3-4x>15

Let's solve each of them individually first:

We have:

2(x-1)\geq10

Divide both sides by 2:

x-1\geq5

Add 1 to both sides:

x\geq6

We have:

3-4x>15

Subtract from both sides:

-4x>12

Divide both sides by -4:

x

Hence, our solution set is:

x\geq 6\text{ or } x
