 For every adult, there must be at least one student.
let x be student, let y be adult

y = 2x

y + x = 240
5x + 10y = maximum amount.

plug in 2x for y

2x + x = 240

3x = 240

3x/3 = 240/3

x = 240/3

x = 80

There are 80 students, and 160 adults.

160 adults = $1600
80 students = $400

This will generate a total of $2000 dollars

160 adults, 80 students should be your answer

hope this helps

Vilka [71]

what you do is take 5 away from 3. No! Borrow 1 Whole (9) and makes it 9 13/8 - 8 5/8 then subtract the 2 fractions

\frac{13}{8}  -  \frac{5}{8} ...

and that is

\frac{8}{8}

then convert that into 1 whole. Now add the whole to the 9 and thats 10. Now, subtract the 2 whole numbers. 10-8=2 so the answer is 2

zloy xaker [14]

Answer: Alberto run 27 meters.

Time taken By Alberto=3 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Let d be the distance Alberto ran to catch Omar.

Then, distance ran by Omar=x-6

Also, \text{Time}=\frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Speed}}

Since, both started running at the same time.

Time taken By Alberto=\frac{x}{9}

Time taken By Omar=\frac{x-6}{7}

Now, at the point they meet time taken by both is equal.

\frac{x}{9}=\frac{x-6}{7}\\\Rightarrow\ 7x=9(x-6)\\\Rightarrow7x=9x-54\\\Rightarrow9x-7x=54\\\Rightarrow\ 2x=54\\\Rightarrow\ x=27

Hence, Alberto run 27 meters.

Time taken By Alberto=\frac{27}{9}=3 seconds
