y=5x is telling you that every hour, john jogs 5 miles, for example to solve for miles jogged in 3 hours for John you would use y=5(3), which is 15. If you graph John's equation, you would notice the point (1, 5), and on Tyrones graph, you see (1, 6) . 6 is one more than 5. not sureif that makes sense!
