Answer:

C. X=10 and y=3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's start by saying the first number is x and the second number is y. Now, rewrite the word problem, making sure any numbers in written form are in number form:

  • <em>3 times </em><em>x</em><em> added to </em><em>y</em><em> is 33. </em><em>x</em><em> added to 3 times </em><em>y</em><em> is 19.</em>

Now, translate the operations into how we usually see them in equations, e.g. "added to" as +:

3x + y = 33

x + 3y = 19

From here on, it's just solving systems of equations, baby!

  • Multiply one of the equations by 3 so that the x's and y's can cancel out. it doesn't really matter which, but I'll go with the first one.

9x + 3y = 99

x + 3y = 19

  • Subtract one equation from the other. (Tip: look for the equation with the larger coefficient for x so it ends up positive!)

8x = 80

  • Solve for x.

\frac{8x}{8}  =  \frac{80}{8}

x = 10

  • Plug x back in one of the equations from the original system. Either works! Now, solve for y.

x + 3y = 19

10 + 3y = 19

3y = 19 - 10 = 9

\frac{3y}{3}  =  \frac{9}{3}

y = 3

Question 11 point(s) Jared made Ask Your Teacher cups of snack mix for a party. His guests ate Ask Your Teacher of the mix. How
liq [111]

Answer:

8\frac{1}{2} cups

Step-by-step explanation:

To determine the quantity of snack mix Jared guest ate, we multiply the quantity of snack mix the guest ate by the quantity of snack mix Jared made. i.e we determine \frac{2}{3}of12\frac{3}{4} by multiplying both fractions together

quantity of snack mix Jared guest ate = \frac{2}{3}of12\frac{3}{4}=\frac{2}{3}*12\frac{3}{4}=\frac{2}{3}*\frac{51}{4}=\frac{17}{2} =8\frac{1}{2}

What is a terminating decimal?
Arte-miy333 [17]
A terminating decimal has digits that end. They do not go on forever. For example, 0.125 has only 3 decimal digits and does not keep on going like 1/3

A rational number is a number that canbe expressed as p/q where p and q are both integers. But q cannot equal to 0.

All terminating decimals are rational numbers, but not all rational numbers are terminating decimals. For example 1/4, which equals to 0.25 is both a rational number and a terminating decimal. On the other hand, 1/3 is a rational number but is not a terminating decimal.

A right triangle is shown <br> Enter the value of x.
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

10

Step-by-step explanation:

Using $A^2 + B^2 = C^2$, we know that $A = 6$ and $B = 8$. $8^2 = 64$ and $6^2 = 36$. $64 + 36 = 100$, and $√100 = 10$.
