What are the coordinates of the point LaTeX: \frac{3}{4}\:3 4of the way from A to B? coordinate plane with line segment AB. Poin
egoroff_w [7]

Answer: \left(\dfrac{-7}{2},\dfrac{5}{4}\right).

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that Point A is at (-5, -4) and point B at (-3, 3).

We need to find the coordinates of the point which is 3/4 of the way from A to B.

Let the required point be P.

AP:AB=3:4

AP:PB=AP:(AB-AP)=3:(4-1)=3:1

It means, point P divides segment AB in 3:1.

Section formula:  If a point divides a line segment in m:n, then

\left(\dfrac{mx_2+nx_1}{m+n},\dfrac{my_2+ny_1}{m+n}\right)

Using section formula, we get

P=\left(\dfrac{3(-3)+1(-5)}{3+1},\dfrac{3(3)+1(-4)}{3+1}\right)

P=\left(\dfrac{-9-5}{4},\dfrac{9-4}{4}\right)

P=\left(\dfrac{-14}{4},\dfrac{5}{4}\right)

P=\left(\dfrac{-7}{2},\dfrac{5}{4}\right)

Therefore, the required point is \left(\dfrac{-7}{2},\dfrac{5}{4}\right).

Please show me the step on how to do this. I know the answer but how do you get it.
kozerog [31]
So, to find the volume of just the cement part, you need to find the volume of the whole shape, then find the volume of the garden. then subtract them to find the volume of just the cement sidewalk.

volume of garden: 16 x 6 x 1  (l x w x h)= 96 ft3

volume of whole:  length=16+4+4=24, width=6+4+4=14, height=1
you have to add 4 to each sides of the length and width to get the entire length.
 volume of whole=24 x 14 x 1=336 ft3

now subt.

336-90=246 ft3 would be the volume of the cement walkway.

Could I have help with number 2?
Romashka [77]

Answer:

Angle 3x = 75 x=25

Angle y=105

Step-by-step explanation:

The angle that measures 75° and the angle that measures 3x are both verticals angles. By using the Verticle angle theorem we can conclude that they are congruent. Therefore, 3x=75.

To find y, you can conclude that the angle that measures 75 is supplementary to angle y. Therefore, you minus 75 from 180 to get your value of y, 105.
