If you had been making the journey on the Mayflower what would you have done to prepare for life in america
emmainna [20.7K]
I would bring hygienic stuff because most people died on ships due to diseases and there have been outbreaks of viruses (especially during the winter) in settlements. I would also bring seeds/ food with me because then once I arrive I could begin harvesting before the winter. Speaking of winter, I would also bring anything that would keep me warm such as animal fur, blankets, etc.

How did the Fabian Society reflect Victorian ideals?
antiseptic1488 [7]
Victorian ideals valued respectability and restraint.  One was to be polite and courteous and dutiful, not pushy or overbearing.

The Fabian Society was a group aiming for a moral remaking of Britain according to a socialist model, but they were much more refrained and respectable in their approach than Marxists who sought revolution.  Founded in 1883, the Fabian Society sought change by gradual means, not through violence or agitation.  They took their name from the Roman general Quintus Fabius <span>Maximus Verrucosus, who was nicknamed "</span><span>Cunctator" ("delayer") for his use of delaying tactics rather than a direct attack in confronting the army of Hannibal in the Second Punic War.</span>

What language did aryans speak when they migrated to india?
julsineya [31]
When Aryans invaded India, Circa 1500 B.C. they did not come with a language which had any known name. They would have spoken a kind of minor language with no script or literature. They found Tamil, a highly developed language, spoken throughout the Indian sub-continent up to Baluchistan in the Himalayas. Tamil was found to be a language with 3 independent fields of ‘Iyal (Prose),Isai(Music)and Natakam(Drama)’ .Dr.Vincent Smith, a noted British historian, in his book on Early Indian History, refers to the contribution of Tamil especially words borrowed by Aryans into their language. Tamil had developed advanced grammar, as proved by the great grammar treatise ‘Tholkappiam’. Later, Panini’s Sanskrit grammar, has borrowed heavily from ‘Tholokappiam’.For e.g. ‘Sandhi rules’ of sentence construction.

There is no evidence of the Aryans having spoken any kind of significant language as they entered India. If they had spoken a significant language, the remnants of it should be spoken now in the area from where Aryans migrated.
